Carinda Christie News
April 12th 2008
Hello hello,
So much news, where to start. Oh how
about
this:-
In the wee hours of Saint Paddy’s Day
the 17th of March a baby boy
was born.
Aaron Jack Christie 7pnd 12 Oz came into
the world peeing everywhere.
He is a serious little man, always
frowning and staring at everyone
intently.
He gave me his first real smile
yesterday, I was starting to wonder if
he could. So I was very pleased to see
his little face light up. Ella who is
one and a half and still trying to be
weaned (ha ha) thought he was her own
personal doll doll and screamed if we
went to take him off her. She has a
love hate relationship with him, loves
him if he is sharing one of those
boobies and doesn’t if he is not. So as
you can see I don’t have the heart to
cut her off just yet, soft touch.
On the music front my fingers are soft
and voice needs fine tuning as I have
not touched my guitar or sang in over a
month. The last show I did was 3 weeks
before I had Aaron as support to Chris
Wilson at the Tanks in Cairns. I must
say as uncomfortable as I was, due to a
big belly and the heat at the time, I
was just so glad to be on stage playing
to a great audience and supporting such
a relaxed headline act. New Years Eve
was fantastic, Natalie Bliss came on
stage as a Duo with me and we played for
just over an hour to around 33,000
people on the Cairns Esplanade, sound
was great and we both felt so
comfortable, I love singing with Natalie
as our voices blend so beautifully
together and I get a chance to do
harmonies and hear her wonderful
harmonies which is always a thrill. As
she is living in Sydney now we don’t get
the chance as much anymore and that’s
why I was thrilled when she said she
would be around Cairns New Years Eve. I
also must mention the team from the
Cairns City Council who ran the event so
fantasticly. Big thank you to Melinda
Norris who is not with the Cairns
Council anymore, what a shame.
I am saving towards a new album which I
am really hoping to do with Nigel pegrum
at Pegusus Studios in Cairns in 2009. I
have around seven new songs so far so
getting there.
My first show back
will be June 20th at 8pm,
Cairns Civic Theatre Foyer, doors open
7:30pm. I will be playing a one hour set
to be followed by local performer Chris
Wighton. So you will have a night full
of fantastic music. For more info on
the night please ring the Cairns Civic
Theatre on 40 31 9933 or contact someone
on the Civic Theatre website on
www.cct.com.au
I am still waiting to see if I will be
playing the famous Plam Creek Folk
Festival south of Townsville, will let
you know on that one? I have also put
in for the Yungaburra Festival and
Wallaby Creek so keep your fingers
crossed for me as they are close enough
to home so I can go while bubbies still
little. Clinks Theatre in Port Douglas
have asked me to do a show there as well
as Shrubbery Taverna in Mission Beach
wanting me back asap. Will let you know
on all of the above when I know more.
As for life on the farm we seem to be
surviving, we are picking tomatoes at
the moment and just some other vege’s
for ourselves and our little barrow out
the front which is going great guns. We
have just planted sugarsnaps and
snowpeas which are loving this cool dry
spell. In a couple of weeks we will be
putting in Roma tomatoes as well.
On the Home front, with 3 children life
is hectic. I know my music will take
the back burner for a while, but not
completely, I refuse. My soul must stay
alive and for that I need to sing and
perform. I feel like all I do all day
is prepare food, clean and do washing.
Somewhere in there I will soon organize
a music moment for myself everyday. Oh
that’s when I get a couple of hours
sleep at nite.
So home is hectic, the farm is crusin
along and my music is hanging in there.
Hopefully you will come along to a show
near you and support the Carinda
Christie cause oh and please say gidday.
Love to you all,
Carinda Christie.
